Vienna & Brussels, 6 December 2019 – Within the framework of the 16 Days Of Activism, WAVE Network and Amazone Centre asbl opened the SHERO exhibition in Brussels on Tuesday this week. The Step Up! Campaign gathered original SHERO artworks made by female artists during an international call in 2018. After the call was sent, the winning artworks were published in an interactive brochure which is on display at the exhibition, as well as freely available on the WAVE website.

In a warm, feminist, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the visitors were greeted by the president of the board of Amazone Centre, Valerie Tanghe, as well as by the WAVE Network executive manager, Alicja Switon. Both emphasized the need to establish new alliances and reach across the field. The exhibition curated by the WAVE Step Up! Campaign is a way to open new collaborations among dedicated feminists in ending violence against women.

While the exhibition in Amazone asbl marks the first stand-alone presentation of the SHERO artworks, not so long ago, Vilnius and Tallinn hosted first itineration of this exhibition, as conference side events.

The exhibition is open Monday – Friday, 9 – 17, at the Amazone Centre asbl, Rue du Meridien 10, 1210 Brussels, until 28 January 2020.
