In 2015, in Moldova several non-governmental organizations and public institutions active in the field of preventing and combating gender-based violence decided to form a joint platform, the National Coalition “Life without violence”, to promote women’s and children’s rights and to contribute to a society sensitive to the phenomenon of gender-based violence.
The coalition has 22 members (15 non-governmental organizations and 7 public institutions) and provides services and support to women and children, survivors of gender-based and domestic violence. Also, it provides counselling, legal and psychological assistance, shelter, social and economic rehabilitation, as well as programs for perpetrators.
The Coalition’s mission includes three strategic programs:
- Improving public policies – advocacy for promoting the ratification of Istanbul Convention, legislative amendments in line with internationals standards and financing of the services for women and children victims of violence
- Raising Awareness
- Strengthening the capacities of the national Coalition as an advocacy platform for gender equality and the rights of women victims of violence, as well as the individual capacities of the members
Since 2018, the National Coalition “Life without violence” joined the WAVE Network!
