The WAVE Network advances data collection, research, and knowledge on male violence against women, through WAVE publications such as the Country Report, the Find Help Database, handbooks, training manuals, online campaigns, position papers, and digital media.
The biennial WAVE Country Report is at the centre of research activities. As the only report gathering data on the status of women’s specialist services in 46 European countries, it gives unique insight into the implementation or lack thereof, of Istanbul Convention legal standards and thus complements the GREVIO shadow report. The WAVE Find Help Database is the only European-wide registry of over 1,550 vetted entries of women’s specialist services. It is accessible 24/7 to anyone looking for contacts of support services.
Dissemination activities are intended to raise awareness on male violence against women (VAWG) and inform about the status of women’s support services and women’s rights in Europe. WAVE shares information on male VAWG on four social media channels, reaching around 15,000 people. The WAVE online magazine publishes stories and articles by WAVE members, the team, and other partners. The WAVE team answers around 200 annual information requests by various professionals on the topic of male VAWG, and related support services. Additionally, the WAVE Youth Ambassadors raise awareness on violence against women in their countries and are multipliers of change.
