Welcome to the WAVE 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence 2022

We invite you to join us in making this #WAVEofChange to end gender-based violence against women and girls even stronger!

The WAVE Office is pleased to share the calendar of events for these 16 Days of Activism beginning November 25th on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and ending on December 10th on International Human Rights Day

As first responders to gender-based violence against women on the ground, WAVE’s network of Women Specialist Services has borne the impact of the challenges 2022 brought for advancing women’s human rights in Europe. Together with WAVEs Youth Ambassadors, and the WAVE Office, our members have rolled their sleeves and put their hands and expert knowledge together to develop toolkits, advocate for better legislation, and find creative ways to end gender-based violence and continue providing specialised services to survivors of gender-based violence. We celebrate their courageous work.

In these 16 Days of Activism, WAVE takes a stance against the widespread phenomenon of femicide. We will reflect on the impact of femicide and the structures in our societies that allow this extreme form of violence to happen in the first place. Through webinars, podcasts, book discussions and articles we will challenge harmful perceptions and stereotypes, and suggest tools rooted in the power of embracing intersectional feminism.

At the national level, WAVE members and Youth Ambassadors will develop local campaigning activities as part of the Advocacy & Campaigning Microgrants, pushing for changes relevant to their contexts. We are also excited this 16 Days of Activism 2022 Campaign marks the second year of our collaboration with Radio ORANGE 94.0, the biggest Community Radio station in German-speaking countries. ORANGE 94.0 broadcasts around 150 shows in 25 languages, and we are happy that the WAVE network’s podcast “No More Violence Against Women” is one of them.
