Register now for free Online Course on Recognizing Elder Abuse

We would like to invite you to take part in the first online training on how to identify and support older victims abuse, an online course created by the TISOVA project. This course provides knowledge on how to recognize older victims and how to empower them.

Are you a professional working in senior or day care centers, a volunteer or a senior yourself? Then this course was made for you and is free! You can sign up until November 3rd, 2019 and will receive a certificate from the University of Tartu upon successful completion. If you are a student you can even receive 1 ECTS for completing the course! The course will last from November 4th to December 15th.

It has 6 obligatory modules, offered during 6 weeks consecutively:

  1. Introduction: definitions & types of abuse
  2. Risks & consequences of elder abuse
  3. Identification of violence
  4. Working with elder victims of abuse
  5. Professional challenges in working with older victims of violence
  6. International instruments Concerning Violence against Older Women

And 2 optional modules – for volunteers and elderly people.

More info on the TISOVA project: The main objective of the project is to educate key groups on violence perpetrated against elderly, as well as on the experiences and specific needs of elderly victims of abuse. Furthermore, the implementation of appropriate policies responding to elder abuse is a focal point.
